Give Your Child the Best Start to Their Swimming Education
Our Swimming Classes for Kids Structure
The FinS Learning-to-Swim program is designed to teach your little one the important basics of aquatic buoyancy and motion — turning them from a weak or non-weak swimmer into a competent swimming powerhouse!
The course is usually started at around 4.5 to 5 years of age, although, we will happily consider students as young as 3 years old — depending on their water confidence and physical and mental maturity. Many of our youngest swimmers were able to join the course early after completing our incredible Infant Program.
Our enjoyable classes include three stages of competence — your special one will perfectly complete the required skills at each level before advancing to the next stage. This allows your youngster to learn without pressure, at a degree of difficulty suitable for their ability, and be surrounded by other children of similar proficiency.

By the end of the Learning-to-Swim program, your child will be almost carnival-ready! At this stage, we recommend your youngster join our Junior Squads — where they will discover powerful racing techniques and competition-standard skills.

The Incredible Benefits of Children Learning To Swim
Of course, the invaluable advantage of your child learning to swim is that they attain a lifelong skill that one day could save them from drowning or aquatic distress!

Confidence and Self-Belief
Through our nurturing and qualified instructors, your child rapidly gains confidence. Not only in the water, but also back on land — knowing that they can achieve challenging targets.
Physical Fitness
Swimming is an awesome form of exercise. It works on all your little one’s major muscle groups, elevates cardiovascular and pulmonary (lung) health, and builds stamina and strength.
Coordination
To swim competently, your child will learn how to effectively coordinate their torso, core, arms, and legs. Not just making them a powerful swimmer, but also tuning their motor skills.
Mental Development
Our structured swimming courses require your little one to listen, understand, learn, and comprehend water techniques and precautions. This boosts their cognitive development — for life!
Social Interaction
Our small group Learn to Swim classes give children a chance to socialise, outside of their usual school and family circle — mixing with adult instructors and older and younger kids.
Lowering Anxiety
Vast research shows that learning-to-swim classes reduce child anxiety and boost their mental health. Furthermore, the study shows swimming is highly beneficial for children with ADHD.

Swimming Lessons FAQs
Why Learn Swimming?
Learning to swim as a child delivers a lifelong skill that could prevent them from drowning. Furthermore, swimming boosts a youngster’s mental and physical health, heightens their coordination, and provides them with a fun pastime.
Who Are Learn to Swim Classes For?
Our Learning-to-Swim classes are for children aged between 4.5 and 13/14 years of age. We may consider infants as young as three years old — depending on their water confidence and physical and mental maturity.
How Long Does It Take To Teach My Child To Swim?
Don’t think of learning to swim as having a singular goal.
Learning to swim is a long-term process in which your child continuously develops and grows as a swimmer. We will happily discuss targets and time frames with you — outlining what to expect as your child matures in the water.
Should My Child Keep Attending Classes in Winter?
Yes! In-water skills need frequent repetition and reinforcement to become second nature — any break in coaching can set back their development.
Our purpose-built, heated swimming pool makes the learning experience pleasant all year round.
How Frequently Should My Child Go to Swimming Lessons?
With school, family, and other activity commitments, many children can only attend our Learn to Swim courses once a week.
However, the more your child is in the water, the faster they grow and develop their skills. Our experience shows that if a child can attend twice a week, the pace of progress more than doubles.
Alternatively, you can enrol your youngster into one of our school holiday boot camps — intense five-day courses that rapidly accelerate techniques and skills.
Should My Child Wear a Swimming Cap?
We prefer all the youngsters in our swimming classes to don swimming caps. Not only do they prevent distracting in-water hair issues, but they also guard against shedding — crucial for a clean and hygienic pool. At FinS Swim School, every child is provided with a swim cap upon enrolment.
Should My Child Use Goggles?
Thanks to our extremely high water quality, your little one doesn’t need to wear swimming goggles. That said, they can be vital tools — preventing water from entering their eyes, which can be distracting.
Our staff are experts in the correct fitting and adjustment of goggles on children. Furthermore, you can purchase a pair of our approved goggles by asking a member of our friendly team.
We recommend Vorgee Goggles, because they are superior quality, making them easy to fit, less distracting, and longer-lasting.
