Junior Swimming Training in Kotara, Newcastle

When your child wants to take their aquatic skills to the next level — it’s time to join the amazing FinS Junior Swimming Squad! Available to youngsters from the age of 7 years, the only prerequisite is that they can already swim at least 25 metres.

The program centres on teaching new strokes to your child while building strong techniques on their existing stroke capabilities. Furthermore, it works to develop powerful racing and competitive skills — including fitness training, race starting, diving, and speed swimming.

Typically, the course is taken after your child has completed our Learn-to-Swim classes — although, already swimming youngsters are more than welcome after completing a FREE swimming assessment!

The target is to make your child school swimming carnival-ready — not just highly prepared, but also seriously competitive!

Give Your Child a Massive Advantage in School Swimming Carnivals!

Our Junior Swimming Squads Course Structure

In our Junior Swim Training classes, your child will progress through three achievement stages — only moving onto the next level when they have competently fulfilled the requirements of their current stage.

The course structure is designed to steadily introduce new skills, theories and techniques, ensure proficiency in these novel practices — and when conquered, build upon these solid foundations.

During the classes, your youngster will train alongside children of a similar age and/or competency level — permitting your child to learn without pressure, and at a degree of intensity applicable to their ability. That said, healthy, good-natured competition between students is always encouraged!

Juniors Swimming Squad FAQs

What Is Squad Swimming?

At FinS, our Junior Squad swimming prepares youngsters for competitive school swimming carnival performances. Through three levels of advancement, your child learns new strokes, racing techniques, and heightened endurance.

Should My Child Wear a Swimming Cap?

We prefer all the youngsters in our Junior Squad to wear swimming caps. Not only do they prevent distracting in-water hair issues, but they also guard against shedding — crucial for a clean and hygienic pool. At FinS Swim School, every child is provided with a swim cap upon enrolment.

Should My Child Use Goggles?

Goggles are vital tools for competitive swimming — preventing water from entering the eyes, which can be distracting.

Our staff are experts in the correct fitting and adjustment of goggles on children. Furthermore, you can purchase a pair of our approved goggles by asking a member of our friendly team.

We recommend Vorgee Goggles, because they are superior quality, making them easy to fit, less distracting, and longer-lasting.

Will My Child Pick Up Infections From Your Swimming Pool?

Our Junior Squad training is conducted in our purpose-built heated swimming pool. Chlorine-free, it utilises the most modern and advanced sterilisation treatments, including sand filters, UV light disinfection, and ozone treatment. This makes it unlikely your child will become unwell from our water.

On the contrary, swimming provides massive health benefits — including boosting lung capacity, raising cardiovascular health, and building muscle strength.
